Last Wednesday 8th of September, Polytechnic University of Valencia’s rector, Francisco Mora, and Nagares’ President, Herminio Navalón, signed a partnership agreement which is formalized by the department of Mechatronics Nagares, which will initially run one year. The professorship is attached to the School of Design Engineering (ETSID), and its director is Eduardo García Breijo, from the Department of Electronic Engineering and member of the Center for Molecular Recognition and Technological Development (IDM).

The objective of the professorship is to promote mechatronics in its broadest sense. For this purpose, the agreement provides, among other activities, to convene scholarships and awards to final year projects, promoting internships, organizing days of technical disclosure with some of the world's leading in the field of mechatronics specialists and opening new joint research lines.

Greater knowledge transfer

During the ceremony, Herminio Navalón has declared that “Nagares has been working for over 15 years with various research groups at the Polytechnic University of Valencia and specially with the Institute CMT-Heat Engines. Now we want to go a step further and formalize the relationship between the two entities with the signing of a professorship”.

For its part, Francisco Mora remarks that “for the UPV, this initiative has several interesting aspects. Nagares’ field is closely related to studies of mechanical engineering and electrical engineering offered by the UPV, that will allow performing very specific projects with students, visiting installations, accessing to first-hand information and making business practices directly in the professional environment”.

Relations with the environment

Currently there are more than 30 professorships and company classrooms at the Polytechnic University of Valencia. Thus, the UPV formalizes a qualified, comprehensive and lasting collaboration with companies and institutions to strengthen relations between the university and the socio-economic environment and increasing the range of activities in different fields of knowledge, for both students and teachers.
